Mitsuda Tenmin (1905-1985)

A two panel screen , mineral pigment on paper.

Born in Kagoshima. Studied in Kagoshima under Masuda Gyokujo and Nagata Shunsui.
Then he moved to Osaka and started exhibiting with the Dainichi Art Academy.
After the war he became a regular exhibitor with the Genten Art Academy.
He later became the director of the Genten Art Academy.

元展美術協会

In 1971 he went to Italy and held and exhibition with his son. Through this he developed a strong connection with the Italian art community and Tenmin became a conduit between the art worlds of the two countries.

In 1973 he dedicated his painting ‘Maria Kannon’ (it is in your exhibition catalogue) to the Vatican and it entered their collection.

The Genten Art Academy exhibits works by Japanese and Italian artists.
